There are many reasons to consider a residential dog training course with the GD Dog Trainer. Particularly as it gives your dog excellent help and support, from an award-winning dog behaviourist. Some owners book residential stays to fast-track puppy training. Others realise it is the best way to tackle complex behavioural issues in dogs. Sometimes, dog owners who are busy book residential dog training for convenience and speed in teaching their beloved pet new skills! Our residential courses to train guard dogs or dogs for protective purposes are popular too. Lastly, we offer residential training options so out of area dog owners don’t need to make multiple journeys to our specialist canine training facility in Essex. Round the clock training and support can be vital in dealing with ingrained and severe behavioural issues in dogs. This is particularly true if you are asking, ‘Who can train an aggressive dog?”. PUPPY TRAINING
Getting a new puppy is an exciting and lovely time, but it also brings a lot of challenges! Especially when it comes to house-training puppies, teaching them not to chew things and developing obedience on their lead and recall, for example. This can mean a huge time investment. Not easy if have a job or family commitments that drag the whole process out – or a puppy with a lively character who doesn’t respond to your efforts. Fortunately, there is a specialist puppy training service in Essex, to make your life much easier! It’s important that you start the basic training with your puppy as young as possible, normally you’ll get a puppy from 8 weeks old. Your puppy can then start their training outside after they receive their vaccinations OR training can begin from within your home from day 1 of collection! Home visits £160 plus travel 1-2-1 at our facilities £65 Per hour.
PROTECTION DOG TRAINING
Can my dog be a protection dog?
As mentioned, protection dogs require an elite level of training, but they must first be able to carry out a number of tests regarding their drive, their temperament and more – in order to proceed to their journey of becoming a protection dog.
In many cases, dogs do not have what it takes to be a protection dog, but I can work closely with your dog to assess them across a number of categories, with a view to step into the protection dog world.
While it may be disappointing to find out your dog does not have what it takes for the protection dog world, it is vital to know this before sending them straight off to be trained as one, as this will only lead to further and greater disappointment.

looking to
perfect your
relationship with
your dog
We all love our dogs, but sometimes they develop undesirable behaviours.
Living with a fearful or aggressive dog who snaps, growls or barks at dogs, other people or you, can be overwhelming, and dealing with his or her undesirable behaviour may intrude into all other aspects of your life. The quiet stroll that you wanted to take with your dog turns into a military operation as you attempt to predict and manage every possible encounter. This can be extremely upsetting stressful and frustrating, and can damage that precious relationship between owner and dog.

What will be done during Basic Protection Dog Training?
It is in this train and board regime (or ongoing 1-2-1 sessions) where I will work with your dog to assess both their current level, and to draw out their potential. There are a number of areas that need to be covered – all revolving around basic dog obedience. If they can perfect the basics, they may have what it takes to reach the next level:
- confidence
- Prey Promotion
- Bark and Hold
- Obedience and Control
- Grip Building
- Scenario Training
Obedience Training
An obedient dog is one that can listen to basic commands such as sit, down, stay and most importantly come back when recalled. K9 Icons can help you imprint these behavior’s in a fun and constructive way. Puppies and adult dogs love to learn with a clear understanding of the task set in front of them.
I’m available for all your one to one dog and puppy dog training needs.
